THE KLINNSMAN ERA WITH THE USMNT

Football in the United States has been growing over the years, despite not being the star sport in that country. This has been thanks to good performances, marketing and the order that has resulted from the MLS league as well as the importing of “franchise” players such as David Beckham, Thierry Henry and others. This is how the clubs are starting to fill the stadiums with fans, loyal to their city and team, and are making soccer a favorite sport among youth and families.
Fans in the United States are more than happy with the work that the coach Jürgen Klinsmann has been doing with the national team, despite the harsh criticism that he received at the beginning of his work with the team.
Klinsmann took charge in July 2011 taking the place of Bob Bradley who is currently directing the Egyptian national team with big success.
When Klinsmann started working with the United States National Team, there were doubts as to his performance in front of the selection because of the poor results that they were having; the national team was not responding as quickly as fans, officials and media wanted, but Klinsmann asked for patience  and continuity, and it was then that since the years 2012/13, there has been more than successes to Klinsmann and the United States team, as the statistics are in favor of them. In the 2012/13 season, in the twenty-two games that have occurred between friendlies, the Gold Cup, and qualification for the Brazil 2014 World Cup, the team has won sixteen games, drawn three and lost just three.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

The other day I asked myself a question. Where are all those players that were stars in their national teams and their club, who for some reason are no longer under the spotlight of worldwide football? Perhaps they are retired, or the level they play at is not the same as it was, and they went to other small steams. It could be their age, or maybe they are currently coaching some team somewhere in the world.
I know that there are a lot of players whom I should mention, but here I will only mention five who merit it. They were all stars in their teams and were praised for thousands around the world. Let’s begin…
RAFAEL MARQUEZ
Do you remember Rafael Marquez? Now 34 years old, the Mexican midfielder and defender began his career at age 17 for the club Atlas. After a little more than three years at the club, he was  signed for Monaco in France who paid around 7 million euros for him. In his first season at this club, he was Champion of the French league.
In 2003 he was signed by FC Barcelona and it was at this club where we saw the best of Marquez, playing along with players like Ronaldinho, Carles Puyol and Samuel Eto’o. It was precisely in the time of Marquez where we saw the best, too, of Barcelona, who became the best team in the world. In 2010 Marquez was released from Barça and was signed by Red Bulls of New York, where he didn’t play much because of injury. Marquez was no longer the same player, and he is currently a player the Mexican team Leon FC, where he also does not play that much. Rafa Marquez is involved in lots of charity and under his name is a foundation that helps poor people, especially kids, to have a better future.
RONALDINHO...

RED DEVILS, AND THE DRAMA CALLED ROONEY

Manchester United have started their tour of Oceania and Asia this week (11 July) where they will visit countries like Japan, Thailand, China and Australia.
The Red Devils have traveled with much of their starting lineup, chosen by their new coach David Moyes, with such players as Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Fabio, Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverley. David de Gea and Shinji Kagawa will join the tour next month.
This type of tour that Manchester United goes on is always very successful, besides the marketing that they will do. It is a fact that Manchester United is one of the box office teams from around world football, and they will also have the chance to meet their fans; supporters who do not have the opportunity to go to England can see their favorite players close up.
Rumors within Manchester United are stronger than ever. The main, and the strongest, rumor is that the striker Wayne Rooney wants a way out of the club, and that he sent a letter to the directors to let them know that he is serious when he says his future is not with Manchester United.
Since the arrival of Robin Van Persie has been playing fewer minutes, Rooney has spent more time on the subs’ bench, as decided by the now-former coach, Sir Alex Ferguson. This led to Rooney’s unhappiness. Besides all this, let us add the arrival of David Moyes, who was his former coach at Everton, and where they had many frictions. They do not have the best of relationships.
